My Honest ViewSonic VX3418-2KPC Gaming Monitor Review

It’s been almost a year since I purchased this monitor, and I must say I have had 0 issues . Hopefully those who have had the issue I had, did manage to see my steps and resolve their problem as well. To obtain 144hz on this monitor, or others I’ve seen, you must have a DP display port cable, unless specified differently by the monitor and GPU specifications.

EDIT (Includes instructions for removing flickers from ALL VX2458-C-MHD screens on NVIDIA GRAPHIC CARDS!) See the images above for more information.!! You’ll need CRU (custom resolution utility), which you may get on the internet.

Regarding the flickers I stated, I failed to note that I solved this problem on ViewSonic VX3418-2KPC monitor using the CRU custom resolution program, which you can access by googling it; my settings are shown in the pictures above. This completely eliminated my flickers in rust (most notably rust) and when the fps went below a certain threshold. You should definitely modify your values to mind and run the NVIDA GSYNC Pendulum Demo at the lowest feasible framerate. That will cause it to flicker. If it does, then edit the settings in Cru appropriately.

Make sure you click OK at the end of each step; if yours already looks like this, it means they listened to your emails and modified them. If you conduct a clean install of the NVidia drivers, you will have to repeat the process. It works well with Freesync.

I’ve seen some flickering in the dark when hovering over items when GSYNC is on. I originally saw this while opening rust and didn’t think much of it at the time. But turning off gsync on ViewSonic VX3418-2KPC eliminates the flickering, so I’d have to assume it’s not gsync compatible for some reason. Yes, I’m using a dpi cable; otherwise, the nvidia gpu wouldn’t utilize gsync at all; yes, my gpu is a new 2070 super ftw3; and no, it’s not my Seasonic 1000 focus+ gold power supply.

I had no idea it would make such a difference, despite the fact that I had been on 60hz all my life. But, to put it mildly, I’m impressed. At first, I assumed it was faulty since it only went through the red, green, white, and yellow color tests for a few seconds. Then I connected it directly to my GPU rather than via my splitter, and now I’m GSYNCED at 144hz! So, whoever informed you that you didn’t have to utilize a display cable, maybe your GPU isn’t a 2070super? I’m pleased I acquired the DP cable to hookup with the ViewSonic VX3418-2KPC monitor since I’d never seen gsync or 144hz before.
