My Honest Philips 325E8 Monitor Review
After reading various reviews on this site, I discovered some contradicting information about whether or not the monitor has built-in speakers. I received the monitor and put in a functional HDMI cable; everything was connected, but there was no sound. When I called tech support, they directed me to the model number: 246E9QDSB. It turns out that this specific model lacks built-in speakers. I was perplexed since the instructions I downloaded from the Philips website said on page 13, under ‘convenience,’ that the device had two built-in speakers. However, the speakers are only included with the 246E9QJA model. The rear of the monitor seems to have speaker vents/ports, however the engineer explained that this is because the 246E9QDSB has the same shell as the 246E9QJA but does not have speakers. It’s not the end of the world, however, since there’s a handy HDMI audio out connector on the back for desktop speakers (which I likely would have used anyways). Just make sure you know exactly model number you’re obtaining if built-in speakers are essential.
