My Honest ASUS TUF Gaming VG30VQL1A Monitor Review

– Excellent color fidelity right out of the box. Other than the obscenely high brightness that every monitor seems to come with these days, I didn’t have to change anything.

– ELMB is quite excellent, even though it seems to lock the overdrive. If I had to guess, it would be overdrive 60 since that is the monitor’s default setting. I’d only heard negative things about ELMB from reviews on other models, so I was relieved to learn it’s at least somewhat helpful here.

– There is no blurry writing or anything of the type that troubled a handful of 24 hours ago “models from the preceding year

– The menu on ASUS TUF Gaming VG30VQL1A is simple to use, and the OSD joystick is of high quality.

– A sturdy, heavy-duty stand with pivoting, tilting, rotating, and height adjustment capabilities.

– The speakers are, to put it mildly, monitor speakers. You’ve probably heard most of them if you’ve heard monitor speakers. 2 watts isn’t going to go you very far. However, the option exists.

Also, I’m not sure whether this is a feature on all 240hz monitors since this is my first one, but I thought it was interesting that Windows recorded the panel as 10-bit color while it was below 240hz. Sorry to those who are concerned about 60hz performance. I don’t have the necessary equipment or expertise to provide particular statistics. All I can say is that I didn’t notice any excessive input latency when playing on my PS4/Switch.

Overall, I suggest ASUS TUF Gaming VG30VQL1A monitor if you’re looking for a 240hz panel. When all factors are considered, the price ($319) is extremely reasonable in my perspective (IPS, 240hz, good build quality, ergonomic stand). I tested a 1440p display but didn’t believe the performance impact was worth the little quality boost. If you’re looking for a monitor only for gaming/browsing, I believe you’d be better off sticking with the tried-and-true 24” model “/1080p combination so that you can use higher frame rates without having to fiddle with Windows scaling to have readily visible text. With reduced display sizes, it’s also easy to use multi-monitor configurations. If you need the additional real estate provided by 1440p/4k for multitasking, you most likely already know what you want. Everyone has distinct requirements.
