My Honest Review on HP OMEN Obelisk 875-1023 Gaming Desktop

I’m going to be very frank with my analysis. I made a mistake of $300. I noticed this on offer at the Cyber Monday auction, and I avoided purchasing it because of several reviews of it overheating and throttling the machine back and working slower than it should. I honestly didn’t want to live with a bad configuration, and strive to find a way to cool the overheating machine to bring the best utility out of it.

So I wanted to pause to look at myself later. A few days later, I couldn’t find any HP OMEN Obelisk 875-1023 gaming desktop for the price it was listed on Cyber Monday. That’s correct, even after $300 went down, I couldn’t get something similar for the same amount.

I’ve been looking at all the major names, here on Amazon and elsewhere. Most of the computers I’ve been looking at in this price category came in with i7-8700K processors and 16Gb of RAM. All of them even had smaller SSD boot drives and broad traditional hard drives. About every spec was lower in some aspect, unless I was able to apply $400 to the price of the machine.

But I bit the bullet and bought this machine, planning to give it back to Amazon. I’ve been anticipating low construction efficiency. NOPE, it has arrived and seems to be a well-built, high-quality machine. I was anticipating a lot of noisy fans, and high time. SO far s good and i the machine was just wow. Generally, the supporters are deaf. And just rev up a little while during Fortnite with all the settings (except Shadows, my son doesn’t want them switched on for some reason) set to EPIC he’s getting 150 FPS, where he’s had about 95FPS before with his older machine.

The HP OMEN Obelisk 875-1023 Gaming Desktop is crisp and fast, and stuff just happen right away. I haven’t had a lot of time with the machine yet, to run over the BIOS to see how all the cooling is functioning properly. Until we get through Christmas, I’m going to try to update the analysis with my experience of looking at the BIOS settings (and upgrading if necessary) and adjusting the system to see if we can get something else out of it with overclocking.

If you’re setting the PC on the board, it’s blocking the arrangement of the air flow. Though I know that HP’s dumb if that’s what they did, because they didn’t have feet to take it off the floor, or a stand—but if it’s as easy as taking a machine a few inches off the floor and allowing space for air to pass into the case, it’s worth attempting. I think this will benefit anyone who’s had problems overheating. So far we’re not… So will it be our actions to raise the case and leave the bottom in a position to circulate cool air in the case, or not?

I keep saying this, but we’re really pleased with this machine. I’m sure I wish I’d bought HP OMEN Obelisk 875-1023 Gaming Desktop on Cyber Monday and saved $300, but I’m STILL satisfied with it at a higher price based on what we’ve seen so far. I’m going to change my review if anything occurs to make me reconsider my recommendation.
