With a 34-inch IPS display, the LG 34GP950G-B is an excellent ultrawide gaming monitor. It’s part of LG’s famous UltraGear gaming monitor range, and it delivers an exceptional gaming experience with an excellent reaction time at the maximum refresh rate, very low input latency, and a few additional gaming features. It supports NVIDIA’s G-SYNC variable refresh rate technology natively, as well as AMD’s FreeSync technology, albeit FreeSync does not operate through HDMI on this model.

LG 34GP950G-B monitor features wide viewing angles, like other IPS displays, but low contrast, making it unsuitable for gaming in low light. It does offer a local dimming option, which is claimed to enhance dark-scene performance, but it’s rather awful, and most users will want to deactivate it. It looks amazing in bright settings, with outstanding SDR peak brightness and good reflection management. It’s an excellent pick if you value color accuracy, since it boasts excellent out-of-the-box accuracy, a terrific SDR color gamut, and exceptional gradient management with no discernible banding.

My Honest LG 34GP950G-B Monitor Review

This display is a significant improvement over my existing X34. This monitor has fewer bezels, is lighter, and supports DP 1.4 (an improvement from 1.2), HDMI 2.0 (I don’t need 2.1 since my Xbox Series X is linked to an LG 65B9), and 144hz OC’d to 180Hz (upgrade from 100hz). The screen’s brightness is incredible, with a rating of 600 HDR. This monitor is a beast with Gsync Ultimate and at the price! I previously had an LG 27GN950 that was 144hz at 4k with 600 HDR and liked it! It was chosen above the Samsung Odyssey G7 (hate VA panels as viewing angles are horrible and it showed). So I chose LG 34GP950G-B monitor over other options like the LG 48in CX OLED, the ASUS ROG Swift PG43UQ 43 “4K, and the 49in Odyssey G9. The price is lower, as is the value for performance. Not to mention the excellent client service. Because my EVGA RTX 3080 FTW Ultra suffers with high refresh rates at 4k, I chose 2K over 4K. Furthermore, the LG CX has a maximum refresh rate of 120hz, the ROG has 144hz but no Gsync Ultimate, and the Odyssey G9 is just too pricey for a VA panel. Therefore, LG takes the win this time. If I could have gotten what I truly wanted, it would have been the new ROG 32in 4k 144hz Gsync Ultimate, but I’m not going to spend the outrageous amount of money they’re asking for it. I’m pleased I bought it. I really recommend it.
