My Honest ASUS VivoBook 15 F515EA-AH34 Laptop Review

This purchase is fantastic. 128GB NVME SSD and 8GB RAM on a Core i3 1005G1. It has a very snappy and responsive feel to it. The fingerprint authentication is extremely fast, which is one of the reasons I chose it over the less expensive Acer. I purchased this for my wife because she only requires the most basic specifications, but I refused to settle for anything less than a 10th generation Intel Core or 4000 series AMD Ryzen. Except for the fact that it should have had 250GB to 500GB of storage, I would not change anything about it for the price. Because the OEM only paid $20 for the Hynix SSD, they could have invested $10 more in a larger SSD. My laptop has 32GB of RAM, but 8GB in this laptop is not slow. There is no bloatware from Asus. Microsoft will not forgive Office365 being pre-installed in three different languages. And why does uninstalling each language take 7 minutes? Is it their hope that you will lose patience and uninstall the program so that it can continue to bother you? Windows S Mode is vexing, and the only reason I had to assist my wife in setting up this laptop was to disable it. Although Windows S mode may be the reason for the lack of bloatware.

Ports are a plus! It’s great to have four USB ports, one of which is USB-C; an NVME SSD; and a 1920×1080 display with adequate brightness. Core i3 processor is extremely responsive. Slim and light in weight. Bevels that are thin. It has a more premium feel to it than the aluminum HP Envy it replaced and is much lighter. Excellent trackpad and keyboard.

Cons: There is no RJ45 wired LAN on ASUS VivoBook 15 F515EA-AH34 Laptop. Except for storage, it outperforms my expectations for the price. 128GB is a small amount of storage. I’d rather upgrade the storage later than purchase something with a larger drive. LCD could benefit from darker blacks, but that is a minor point at this price point. The viewing angles aren’t great, but that’s something neither I nor my wife care about.
