My honest ViewSonic XG2705-2K Review
I bought the XG2402 for my gaming laptop a year ago (in December 2018). My laptop has a 144Hz display, and the previous BenQ I owned didn’t look as smooth because it wasn’t 144Hz. I did a short Amazon search and came across this show, which I purchased on the spur of the moment. It does not let you down! A year later (Dec 2019), I saw it on sale for Cyber Monday and couldn’t pass it up.
The ViewSonic XG2705-2K monitor has a TN screen, and as with all TN monitors, it will appear washed out when compared to IPS displays, especially at viewing angles. But you’re gaming and going at things straight on, so it’s not a huge deal. 1920×1080 is the resolution. The monitor has two HDMI inputs as well as a single DisplayPort port. It also has two USB 3.0 (A) ports and one USB 3.0 (B) entry. Two red light bars glow behind the display panel while the monitor is turned on and sensing a signal. If this scares you, you should disable it. I leave them on and appear pretty good against a wall.
Setting up for 144Hz and G-SYNC: Navigate to the Tree View Panel and extend Display under NVIDIA Control Panel settings. Be sure to choose 1920×1080 under the PC segment under “Change resolution.” You can now adjust the refresh rate to 144Hz using the drop down box on the right.
To allow G-SYNC, go into the monitor’s OSD and enable FreeSync. After that, return to the NVIDIA Control Panel settings, extend Display, and click “Set up G-SYNC.” Three stages divided into three sections: (1) Choose “Allow G-SYNC, G-SYNC Compatible” and select full screen or full and window mode. (2) Click on the ViewSonic XG2705-2K Monitor. (3) Pick the Enable settings for the chosen display type checkbox.
