My Honest VIPEX Active Noise Cancelling Headphones Review

I’m currently up to four sets of noise-cancelling headphones. I’m going to have to go back and alter a couple of my previous evaluations after playing with them all week. Haha. These are great budget-priced headphones that are a step higher from the other major brands at this pricing.

These are a direct rival to the SoundSurge 60’s in terms of price, and I’d say they’re nearly a clone in terms of fit, quality, and aesthetics. The battery life is likewise same. But that’s where the parallels end.

The noise cancellation and sound profile are where the differences reside. Those are two very distinct things. The noise cancellation is quite modest with them. You can definitely notice a difference when it’s turned on vs. off, but the white noise that the SS60’s produce isn’t there. That is a significant advantage for the Vipex. You won’t be able to hear anything, but your surroundings will be extremely well muffled.

In terms of sound characteristics, the VIPEX Headphones offer considerably deeper bass than the SS60s. They’ve been adjusted to really bounce the music, while the SS60’s are fairly flat overall. That’s not necessarily a negative thing with them. Normally, I don’t like bass-heavy headphones, but these aren’t. The bass is just more pronounced. It’s difficult to put into words.

Overall, listening to music with them has been a fantastic experience. I believe they are best suited to individuals who like heavy rock music. GnR, Metallica, and White Zombie all sounded fantastic. As I previously said, the bass isn’t overwhelming, thus Rap, EDM, Industrial, and Techno all sounded nice…but just okay. It was a joy to listen to rock from the 1950s and 1960s. It added a whole new depth to The Doors that I wasn’t expecting.

So, although VIPEX Active Noise Cancelling Headphones are a better experience than the SS60s, they don’t hold a candle to headphones that cost twenty to thirty dollars more. For example, the SoundSurge 90’s outperform these in terms of noise cancellation and comfort. The SS60’s and SS90’s have a neutral sound, while these are geared for beefier music. I suppose it all boils down to personal taste.
