My Honest Sceptre C348B-QUN168W Gaming Monitor Review

To begin, you will not have precisely correct color with this monitor, thus you will need an IPS panel for picture processing. Having said that, I knew this was a VA screen and sought a greater black level and brightness over color accuracy.

All VA panels are susceptible to smearing, particularly black smearing. With Sceptre C348B-QUN168W Gaming  monitor, I’ve observed it, although it’s not extremely visible. You have to seek for it in video material or games. This is comparable to the most costly VA panel available.

Pros: -Excellent Refresh Rate -Good Response Time (also a drawback, which I’ll explain later)
-Outstanding color (may not be editing accurate, but looks amazing for all content I have tried)
-The brightness is incredible, and HDR really jumps and looks beautiful on this monitor. Few displays priced under $1800 can make that claim.
The -1000R curve significantly enhances game immersion and, in my view, is also beneficial to productivity.
Everything seems to be the same distance away from your eyes. This is especially useful if you don’t increase the text.
-Light bleed is hardly perceptible; it’s on pace with (if not better than) many high-end monitors.
-Blacks look fantastic. I have an OLED that I use for gaming and viewing movies/Netflix, among other things. Obviously, this cannot compete with OLED, which, in my view, is the greatest screen panel available. However, I feel this monitor has amazing contrast and dark levels. There may be more dimming zones, but I paid less than $500 for this monitor. At this pricing point, it’s a bargain.

Cons: -There is no Freesync Premium and Sceptre C348B-QUN168W is not G Sync approved. At this price, I believe it is entirely acceptable, particularly considering that the monitor is VESA certified HDR1000 and a 1000r curve 34″ ultrawide for less than $500. However, I would add that I observed flickering with adaptive sync while using G Sync. I’m also using a high-quality display port cable. I switched it off and instead use the maximum overdrive option, which doesn’t seem to affect color or contrast at all.
-Reaction time is gray-to-gray, thus 1ms gtg corresponds to 4-5 ms response time. Still really nice, but worth noting.
-With HDR enabled, which must be enabled from the menu, color/brightness/contrast cannot be modified inside the display and must be adjusted through OS settings or Geforce Experience, which I used.
-There was no USB hub, which I would have appreciated. I almost went with the ASUS Tuf due of this, but I went with this because of the brightness, 1000r curve, and I really love the colors on this panel over the Tuf.
-USB C is solely for charging; display out only works with one Display Port and three HDMI.

Overall, Sceptre C348B-QUN168W is a great monitor, and I feel it is the finest ultrawide display available at this price range. I feel it outperforms many more costly displays.
