My Honest LG 32UP550-W Review

I’ve only owned this monitor for a day, but I wanted to write a short review to assist anybody who has a MacBook. My 16-inch Intel-based MacBook Pro does not seem to be compatible with the supplied USB C cable. The MacBook would charge and connect to the USB gadgets I had put on the back of the monitor, but the display would not function. I tried rebooting the MacBook and manually detecting the display, but it just would not locate it.

I bought an Apple Thunderbolt USB C cable on a whim, and it recognized it straight away. This is my first Mac in many years, and I’m new to using a USB C display, so this may seem apparent to more experienced people, but I wanted to share my experience in case it’s useful to others.

In terms of the monitor itself, LG 32UP550-W seems to be very decent. The screen is beautiful and bright, and the stand is extremely robust and adaptable. The colors don’t seem to be as vivid as they are on my MacBook retina monitor, but I’m sure I can tweak the settings to make it near. I’m not a video editor or photographer, so I don’t have really strict color accuracy requirements, but it would be great if things were more consistent. It also seems to be compatible with my PC through the DisplayPort input.
