I’m going to give the printer a 4 out of 5 stars. I had to contact Lexmark to get the printer installed and configured. That might be because I’m unfamiliar with the gadget. Every setup is unique. Lexmark was so helpful. I appreciated the assistance. My concern is the quantity of ink it consumes. I received an alert two days after receiving the printer that the ink levels were low. That was probably something I anticipated. I’m sure the ink cartridges that came with the printer were empty. I could only locate the cartridges on Lexmark’s website. A whole set cost about $280.00, and I had to pay an extra $44.00 to have the cartridges sent overnight, but I needed the printer for school and didn’t want my studies to be disrupted. Not quite two weeks later, I got another notice that the cartridges were running low. The indication gave the impression that the cartridges were almost empty. So I’m lost more than $600.00 in less than a month.
According to the Lexmark website, each cartridge should produce 1,500 copies. It’s difficult for me to believe I printed so many pages. Everything else about the printer is satisfactory to me. I graduate in March, and at this rate, I should get a less expensive printer. I can’t afford to pay $600.00 every month for ink. I believe that as a feature, the user should get many alerts concerning ink levels rather than waiting until the cartridges are almost empty. Also included is a counter that can be reset as ink is added, allowing the user to keep track of their consumption. The touch screen might also be bigger for a man with enormous hands. Because the password is not shown as it is input, it took me roughly 8 times to get it right.
