My Honest Review on Dell Inspiron 11 Convertible 2 in 1 Chromebook
Given the negative feedback, I was reluctant to purchase this, but my 7-year-old laptop crashed after a BIOS update and became a doorstop. D.A.I.D.! That is no longer true for folks who lack a sense of humour. LOL. I wanted something quickly and wasn’t prepared to spend a lot of money on a top-of-the-line speed demon. So, I unpacked the laptop, charged the battery, performed the standard setup, and then installed ALL of the Windows updates, including the BIOS update.
I couldn’t be happier, particularly considering the low price. I don’t notice any sluggishness, although I’m quite fussy and frustrated with a sluggish computer. I’ll probably increase RAM, but it works quite well even with Microsoft Word, Excel, and a dozen internet tabs open. No, it does not have an Intel i7 CPU, 32GB of RAM, or a solid state drive, but it cost just $253 delivered, so I have no complaints.
Well, there’s one grump. Dell Inspiron 11 is wonderfully put together in a tamper-proof manner. To be true, swapping out the hard drive with an SSD and installing extra RAM would require some work, rather to the 5 minutes it took on my last laptop. I could wait until the warranty expires before doing it, because opening up this baby will undoubtedly void any warranty, but honestly, as an IT professional with decades of experience, I have deployed literally thousands of Dell workstations, laptops, and servers, and I could count the number of warranty issues on one hand! There is no exaggeration!
If you’re on the fence about buying this, I hope my review is helpful. Of course, I cannot promise that your experience will be the same as mine, but I would be very shocked if you followed the procedures I detailed above when you initially get the laptop.
