My Honest Review on ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ1A

Set up DP to my gaming PC, and HDMI to my work PC. The VG27AQ1A monitor is thin and fits well next to my alienware aw2710hf 240hz monitor. This monitor is bright, so I had to turn it down to 60-70 percent for daily use. Although I wish there was a mode that had more access to all settings, I was still able to get the color settings to match my other monitor.

The stand is wide, but only half as deep as my other monitor, which is a good thing, I can still put it on a long-term monitor arm.

The IPS glow was normal, it wasn’t more than I had expected, it doesn’t bother me. It’s a lot better than my old u2715h ips monitor. You can see the back light bleed/ips glow in the dark with a black background, but I didn’t notice it during normal use, especially in normal lighting situations. See image, left is aw2720hf, right is vg27aql1a. You could see it watching a movie with black bars at the top and bottom, not a deal killer for me.

It was great for work on excel and real-time data. Good resolution and a very clear text.

I’d say ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ1A monitor is on par with the reviews I’ve seen for the gigabyte aorus fi27q and pixio px7.

Websurfing presets are fine, racing and srgb are the best. I had to tweak some settings to fix photo work colors in photoshop, all of the presets were a little warm and bright, but they were fixable and not completely out of the ordinary. The settings for movies had to be tweaked to a modified version of the preset scenery or cinema. Will probably set up a better match with the spyder.

Motion is good, the monitor is fast. Played COD, Fortnite, Star Wars, DBZ without any problems. There is no obvious ghosting or other issues. GSYNC was working well. I’m probably going to stick to my 240hz fornite, but I’m going to switch to this monitor for anything else that benefits more from higher resolution.
