My Honest ASUS TUF Gaming VG279Q1R monitor Review
I’ve been constructing gaming PCs for almost two decades. I’m an elderly, seasoned tech, and I’d like to inform you about the ASUS VG278Q. This is an excellent monitor for any GAMER in need of a big, fast, 1080p, 144hz panel. As you can see from the pictures in my review, I also possess the ASUS VG245H, therefore my opinion applies to both screens. I bought the VG245H to use as my PS4 Pro/PC monitor. It has worked flawlessly for over a year on both the PS4 Pro and my PC.
After constructing a new gaming PC for myself, I chose the VG245H’s larger sibling. The main difference between the two is the screen size and, more significantly, the refresh rate. The VG245H is a 24″ display with a refresh rate of 75hz, while the ASUS TUF Gaming VG279Q1R monitor is a 27″ display with a refresh rate of 144hz. Both of these monitors feature TN panels. If you are a casual gamer who also likes to do a lot of picture and video editing on the side, you should choose an IPS or VA panel. These TN panels don’t have the best color or contrast, but they do offer some of the quickest G2G reaction speeds on the market. So, if you’re a competitive player, these are displays you should really consider. Avoid paying too much heed to reviews that say these screens are excellent for gaming but bad for anything else. These displays may be adjusted and calibrated for a superb “all-around” computing experience through the monitor’s OSD and the control panel on your GPU. While they will never be as bright as an IPS or VA panel, they may be adequate for day-to-day computing. Take some time to fine-tune them before succumbing to the notion that these displays are “washed out” and have “poor color reproduction.”
Pro tip: In your GPU’s settings panel, make sure the RGB range is set to full rather than limited.
The same robust, ergonomic stand is included with both screens.
Who should purchase these? Anyone searching for a quick, dependable, and reasonably priced display. Serious gamers that place a premium on speed above contrast and color accuracy. Who wouldn’t want to purchase these? Anyone seeking vivid, vibrant colors and lifelike movie and picture reproduction. As a result, it all comes down to what is most essential to you. If you want something quick and furious, the ASUS TUF Gaming VG279Q1R is the monitor for you. If visual candy and features are more essential to you, you should seek elsewhere and expect to pay more.
