My Honest Acer Swift X SFX14-41G-R1S6 Laptop Review

This is a highly powerful laptop with none of the disadvantages that many gaming laptops have. It seems regular, has a 90W charging brick that is really portable, and is pleasant and lightweight. The following are the main differentiating features: -a very beautiful display (100 percent srgb 1080p 60hz max 300 nits with decent brightness scaling).

-Overall, excellent build quality, with the lid being a little flimsy.

-outstanding achievement for a 14-year-old “ultra-slim” (see details below if interested)

-very tiny size

-Thermals are adequate, particularly for the price, but the fan becomes very noisy under high loads.

The screen and keyboard on Acer Swift X SFX14-41G-R1S6 laptop are both very good (keyboard lighting is an added bonus), and the camera is adequate (720p). There are two USB 3.0 ports, one USB C port, one HDMI port, combined audio, and a Kensington lock. It’s a little inconvenient because there’s no ethernet or SD card reader. However, I bought a Tp-Link ethernet + USB hub for $30 and it’s fairly portable. The speakers are located on the bottom and provide a mediocre sound (they get the job done). Under normal conditions, I get 5-7 hours of battery life, which is very excellent for a laptop this powerful and compact. Expect reduced performance if you play visually or computationally demanding games. While the fan may be very noisy at times, it usually operates quietly until under duress.

The performance of Acer Swift X SFX14-41G-R1S6 laptop is incredible; the Ryzen 7 5800u is one of the most powerful CPUs for ultra-portables, if not the most powerful, and will make a significant difference for video/photo editing in particular. Most current games can be played at reasonable framerates thanks to the 3050ti. Keep in mind that anything higher than 60 is overkill unless you’re using an external monitor, so this should be plenty for most non-AAA and even some AAA games at high settings. However, don’t expect ray tracing or other high-demanding applications to work well. Because of the size, you’ll only receive 60-70 percent of the GPU performance you’d get in a gaming laptop comparable.

Finally, there is a second M.2 ssd slot inside for future upgrades, and the first one is also user accessible. If you want to open it, make sure you have torx bits. Overall, I give this machine a rating of 4.5/5 (rounded up to 5). More information for performance nerds/diy folks is provided below:

The WiFi card on Acer Swift X SFX14-41G-R1S6 laptop is a Mediatek Wifi 6 2×2 card. Although Intel is technically superior, it performs well. The CPU has a stated power of 15W, but can turbo to 40W when plugged in, runs at 85-95C under heavy, fully threaded operations, and runs at 3.7-4.4GHz on all 8 cores. Under duress, the GPU maintains a comfortable temperature of about 65°C and consumes 35-40W. For comparison, the NVIDIA 3050ti at that wattage performs 15-20% lower than my desktop NVIDIA 1650 super at 100W. I haven’t attempted to max up the CPU and GPU at the same time in a long time, but anticipate performance to suffer in any games that extensively use both components. The integrated graphics handle the OS and the bulk of less GPU-intensive activities, saving power and maximizing graphics performance (this seems obvious, but it isn’t).
