I had a Samsung 240Hz 1080p curved monitor that I liked, but the ghosting caused by the VA panel was horrible, particularly while using GSYNC. This time, I thought I needed a nice IPS panel, and since I was going to acquire a new screen, I may as well go with 1440p.
This ASUS ROG Strix XG279Q is well-made, with a sturdy, adjustable stand. The screen is really eye-catching, and the HDR capabilities are much superior than what some reviews suggest. Overclocking the display from 144Hz to 170Hz is as simple as a few button hits in the on-screen menu. The IPS panel is well worth the money; there is no ghosting and my eyes can finally rest.
